The spiritual vision of the Women’s Ministry Department is to lift up Jesus Christ, teaching and enabling WOMEN to discover and realize their leadership and ministry potential within the home, church and community.

With our church membership running over 50 % women—we want for each woman to accept Jesus as Savior and Lord of their life.  This can happen by providing spiritual growth, developing skills, and enabling women to have the opportunity to lift up Jesus Christ in their home, church, and community.

We are blessed by the many talented, spiritual women in our ranks that exemplify Christ in their lives and make up a necessary portion of the leadership in our churches.

Fortunately for the church, the Women’s Ministries Department has been developed to meet the needs of most congregations.  Your conference, union, North American Division, and General Conference have resource materials to assist you.

Many of these organizations have websites that will guide you as you contemplate this ministry.  Most of the guess-work has been removed.  Check for a wealth of information.  There are manuals and leadership books available through AdventSource (800-328-0525 or www.adventsource.org).

As you look at this ministry for your church and yourself, remember prayer, knowledge, and communication are your most important resources.  Women’s Ministries is vision-driven and ministry-based.  It is not just an annual retreat, a tea party, or a social club.

Friendship, fellowship, and someone to share and understand our everyday or extraordinary burdens and problems; women helping women is what Women’s Ministries is all about.

So… your local church has decided it’s time to do something for Women’s Ministries.  Maybe they’ve even chosen you as a leader!  Congratulations!  You’re embarking on an exciting journey of service to women in your church and your community.  But you may have a few questions about how to get started.

A great way to begin is by looking at your team—who will make up your Women’s Ministries Committee, and what their tasks will be.

The Women’s Ministries Leaders’ Duties and Responsibilities Are to:

  1. Establish a Women’s Ministries (WM) committee
  2. Chair the WM committee
  3. Assess women’s needs through surveys and interviews.  Work with the WM committee to develop programs and ministries to meet these needs.
  4. Be an advocate for women’s concerns, needs and contributions
  5. Assist the church in meeting the spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of women
  6. Create an environment in which each woman can grow
  7. Work with the church board to harmonize WM activities with the church program; work with the pastor and the conference WM director

The conference WM director is responsible for providing resources for local church leaders.  Your local conference should provide training sessions for WM leaders, and you will benefit from attending these.
